Furniture business clears stock

OWNERS of Country Cottage Furniture Ross and Vicki Glass have decided to close up shop to go for their long awaited trip around Australia.

They have employed local auctioneer Leon Carlile and the team at QLD Hot Property to host a clearing sale auction on Saturday, October 29 starting at 9am.

Mr Glass said the time had come for Vicki and myself to enjoy life and unfortunately that meant closing down our business and selling everything.

"We have over 200 lots with no reserve prices."

Auctioneer Leon Carlile said it was sad to see local businesses having to close down but it was a sign of the tough times we all face in today's business world.

"We will be selling everything in the shed which includes all the office equipment, desks and chairs, all the brand new solid timber furniture like beds, side tables, kitchen tables and chairs, the list goes on," he said.

"Then there is all the specialised cabinet making equipment and machinery including jigs, power tools, air tools, Makita drop saw and benches, shelving and racking.

"We are even packing pallets full of special timbers like Black Bean, Tasmanian Oak and Recycled Pine to make it easy to load on to the bidders' trucks and trailers.

So while it's the end of an era for Country Cottage Furniture, I see it as an opportunity for joiners and cabinet makers and even home handy men and woodworkers to pick up a bargain.

"Everything must be sold on the day, that's why we haven't put any reserves on any lots," Mr and Mrs Glass said.

Mr Carlile said he had auction lists available at the QLD Hot Property Office, located at 206 Herries St or you can email him at leon@qldhotproperty.com.au.

A barbecue and drinks stall will also be operating during the auction clearing sale.
