From students to soldiers by term 3

STUDENTS and staff at Cannonvale State School are working hard to put together a memorable performance for the Wakakirri Primary School Challenge in term three.

Teacher Amanda Young said their dance, titled 'iSoldier', expressed how children in this generation were turning into soldiers.

"There's a silent war essentially about technology taking over our lives and making people become narcissistic and how the children and community are focusing on that," she said.

Master teacher Kristy Pethers said this year was the first time the school had performed and they were currently looking for sponsors to assist with the show.

"Part of Wakakirri is costumes and we need to raise funds so we can buy clothing, make up, spray paints and props," she said. "We'd really love money donations from the community and gift vouchers from businesses."

Ms Young said the performance aimed to make audience's question what the digital age meant for our children and whether a balance could be found or if it was, in fact, the new reality.
