Four teams into grand final

THE Under 13's second semi-final against brothers was deemed to be the toughest game of their season, having lost all three previous encounters against the Kangaroos.

After settling down, our boys managed to hold the taller brothers side to a seven point margin, which was unlucky as we had the ball in our forward 50 for an even amount of time.

Second quarter our boys came out fired up and, by the end of the quarter, the scores were tied thanks to Ashton's accurate boot, with our back line managing to keep the Roos scoreless for the quarter.

Third quarter was all Brothers, kicking a further two goals one, keeping our boys scoreless. The last quarter will no doubt go down as the best 12 minutes played by any side this season.

With the home crowd on their feet and voices yelling encouragement from both sides, our team managed to claw back the score to be within six points with 20 seconds on the clock. Our mid field and on ballers fought valiantly to get the ball moving forward as the clock ticked down.

The tide had turned as the Brothers' team all but cruised, thinking their win was assured, but once our little goal sneak Cooper put the leather on the boot at literally the very last second and goaled, the score was tied with three goals three points apiece.

Ten minutes of extra time to determine the winner was then played. The crowd was so loud that the coach couldn't hear himself think and, to the boys' credit against the breeze, kicked the first goal thanks to our hard running midfielder Brayden.

Final score Swannies 4-3-27, Brothers 3-4-22. Best on ground - all players wearing the red and white.

The Reserve grade lost to the Muddies in a tight tussle to go down by five points.

Accuracy in front of goals again cost the coast boys when they dominated the opening term to have nine shots on goal but only resulted in three goals.

After half-time the scoring dried up for the Swans and the Gladstone side was able the claw back the lead with the assistance of a one sided penalty count 22-4.

Pearce was again outstanding and along with Boyd were the Swans best, it was a courageous effort from the Swans but poor decision making at times and skill errors cost them.

The A Grade side now enjoys a week off in preparation for their third Grand Final in a row where they will play the winner of this week's Preliminary Final.
