Former Surat residents share old memories at reunion

FORMER Surat resident Robyn Cherry said the best thing to have as a child was the experience of growing up in the country.

She gave her children that opportunity after moving to the country town near Roma in 1962.

"I first went to Surat in 1962 when I was working as a teacher," she said.

"I married a local boy and had my children there."

Mrs Cherry reminisced about the good old days on October 3 at a reunion she had organised for former and current Surat residents.

"It was an excellent day and we had a lovely roll up," she said.

"Everyone enjoyed themselves. We just talked and reminisced, about what people are up to now and how the town has changed."

Mrs Cherry said the group got together about every two years and another reunion was being planned.
