Footy's on-air stars have a laugh on tour

FORMER Blues forward Nathan Hindmarsh is copping a fair bit of flak during the FOX LEAGUE On Tour but he expects nothing less.

The 37-year-old, who laced up 17 times for the Cockroaches, has been getting a hard time from some footy fans and even some colleagues during a 10-day roadshow around Queensland.

"Being in the heart of Cowboys and Broncos territory and being a New South Welshman I do get a bit of stick...but it's all a bit of fun,” he said.

Hindmarsh is just one of the on-air stars on the Sunshine Coast for the latest leg of the tour, which has been to Cairns, Townsville and Mackay.

Tour members include the likes of Justin Hodges, Kevin Walters, Ben Ikin and Andy Raymond.

They're promoting FOX SPORTS' new 24/7 rugby league channel which kicks off next week before the NRL season starts.

A Sportsman's Night at Maroochy RSL on Thursday is a highlight of their visit.

"We take questions from the audiences on tour and give our opinions and have a bit of a laugh as well,” he said.

They're also visiting schools and footy clubs. Some were at Maroochydore on Thursday afternoon, helping kids learn new rules.

"The rule that stands out for me is the fact they're going to put less numbers on the field and make the field smaller,” Hindmarsh said.

"So there's going to be more opportunities for kids who aren't as confident to get their hands on the ball and to tackle.”
