Floral and photographic beauty on show

FLORAL skills and stunning photography brought Stanthorpe's Queensland Country Women's Association to life.

The recent floral art and photography competitions shone a spotlight on the region's talents.

Floral art judge Wendy Price said there were some great talents on show.

"They've all been very good,” she said.

She said in the recent hot weather some of the fresh cut flowers had struggled, but the entrants still did well overall.

Marilyn Dunn was the overall winner, but she said many had great talent.

"There's been a lot of thought gone into a lot of them, particularly for people that haven't been trained,” she said.

Libby Gunderman said the photo competition was as strong as ever.

She said there were a staggering 141 entries.

"The winner goes to the Border Division and the winner of that goes to state,” she said.

Mike McAuliffe and Jenny Hillman both claimed first and second places in various categories.

"It's always good because the competition is so strong so to win something is a real honour,” Ms Hillman said.
