Oswald as seen from the sky
THE FURY of Mother Nature captured from the air revealed how hard-hit Ipswich was by this week's floods.
QT photographer Sarah Harvey went up with Pterodactyl Helicopters to view the damage and returned with some stunning pictures that highlighted what the city's residents endured on the ground.
The swollen Bremer River at Riverheart Parklands and across Hancock Bridge showcased the flood's extent, while the flooding of the Brisbane River at Goodna revealed how close that resilient community came to being inundated completely.
Councillor Paul Tully described Goodna as "the luckiest town in Australia" when the floodwaters of the Brisbane River peaked at 7.97m, a metre below the predicted level.
"No homes were flooded despite earlier fears several hundred properties could be affected," Cr Tully said.
"Goodna residents are so grateful they were spared from another disaster.
"Now the task begins for everyone to start bringing all their gear back into their homes."
