Flood survey hard to take seriously
I HAVE just received a survey in my letter box about the 2011 flood in Ipswich from, of all people, the University of Newcastle, NSW.
I know Brisbanites think we are country bumpkins out here, but really, do Novacastrians have to insult my intelligence by putting a cartoon of a person scratching his head filling in a form?
Really?
Some of the questions are rather demeaning.
For example, Question 12 reads: "Indicate how you feel, at this moment.... of the risk of flooding."
The answer to No. 8 box says: (and I am not kidding), "I feel overjoyed".
Anyone who ticks that should also apply for the free ride to the psychiatric ward at Ipswich Hospital.
To give them their due, they are taking their time to write to flood victims to find out how we feel.
I really don't know which of the following I feel:
A: Insulted.
B: Angry at the waste of tax payers' money
C: Fed-up with how other people perceive us in Ipswich.
D: Happy that someone else in Australia at least checks that we are still alive.
E: Motivated, to write something sarcastic in reply.
