The Flash S2E11: The Reverse-Flash Returns review
*spoilers ahead if you haven't seen season two episode 11*
REVIEW: Welcome back Mr Thawne, Patty goes full detective, the Wests' relationship improves and Cisco begins to embrace Vibe.
The Reverse-Flash Returns was one of the most tightly-packed episodes of the season, and even then it felt like there was more that could be cut.
Eobard Thawne's return as the Reverse Flash was clearly the biggest draw, and Matt Letscher was incredible as the man who loathes The Flash.
The Flash/Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) obviously dislikes Thawne given the events of the first season, and the stage was set for another clash.
Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) worked together to increase his powers as Vibe. He saw Thawne murder Dr Tina McGee (Amanda Pays) before it happened and, with Team Flash, stopped it just in time.
As a consequence, and for one of the first times in the series, they altered the timeline which left Cisco fighting for life.
The Flash had no choice but to let Thawne return to his timeline so Cisco could be saved, leaving another major villain to roam free.
A few more things:
- Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) used her obvious sleuthing skill to unravel Barry's secret, but the Scarlet Speedster was not about to admit his ability. She was one step ahead and caught him red-handed in what could be their final goodbye.
- Francine (Vanessa Williams) was close to death and in hospital, which provided the perfect vehicle to bring Iris (Candice Patton) and Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) much closer together.
- Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) was suspicious of why Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) did not have a doppelganger, like every other character has had. The revelation Garrick's doppelganger was Hunter Zolomon is incredibly compelling: Zolomon is Zoom in the comic books. The TV show could go the complete other direction but the next few weeks are unmissable.
