Fitness proves big business

WITH more than one million members worldwide and more than 1800 clubs to choose from, Anytime Fitness, can lay claim to being the world's largest fitness provider.

Along with his business partners, manager of Anytime Fitness Toowoomba Rob Burr is committed to providing the community the very best when it comes to personal fitness.

"My business partners and I have been actively involved in the fitness industry for the past 20 years both in Australia and overseas.

"We are committed to helping our customers achieve their fitness, health and lifestyle goals.

"We decided to open our own fitness club under the Anytime Fitness brand in the view of being able to diversify in the fitness industry," Mr Burr said.

Mr Burr said it goes without saying that owning a business that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week certainly has it challenges.

"The hardest facet initially when we opened the business was probably the hours it took to organise all the systems required to operate a business that runs 24/7.

"The best part, however, is being able to reflect on a day's work and regardless of the hours you may have worked knowing that you invested in the growth of your own business.

"You can definitely learn a lot working for yourself," Mr Burr said.

The most important business took Mr Burr has at his disposal which has allowed his business to grow is to take note of what his customers are saying.

"Asking for feedback from your customers, industry stakeholders and associates is very important.

"Feedback both good and bad allows you the opportunity to ensure the little things get done right," Mr Burr said.

The one piece of business advice that Mr Burr was told and still practices today is very simple in its message.

"Do what you must do first and what you want to do second," he said.

The one piece of advice Mr Burr has for those looking to start their own business is ensure you do your homework thoroughly.

"Ensure you do your homework and make sure there is a market for what you wish to offer and a strategy to implement it," Mr Burr said.

Anytime Fitness is located at 323 Ruthven St.
