First client to stay at retreat

THE HARD work put in by members of the Dalby Zonta club will be recognised this week.

The club hosted their annual ball last month, raising more than $22,000.

The event was raising money for a new retreat which was being refurbished for palliative care patients in the Bunya Mountains.

The aim of the retreat is to provide a welcoming holiday spot for Dalby residents battling cancer, at no cost.

This week the first clients will step into the accommodation for a two-night stay with loved ones.

Ball organiser Linda Marsh, said it was a thrill for her club to know people would be enjoying the Bunya Mountains facility.

"We have our first clients booked and they told us they could not believe this opportunity was available to them,” she said.

"They will be relaxing there for two-nights which is wonderful.”

Following the success of last month's ball, the Dalby club have already turned their attention to next year's ball.

Mrs Marsh said discussion had already been had as to when and where the ball will be held.
