Finance workers face gender pay gap

THE Financial Services Institute (FINSIA) has released a report that highlights a widening gender gap in the financial services industry.

FINSIA says the 31 per cent pay gap between men and women is one of the widest in Australia.

The institute's chief executive, Russell Thomas, told AM the gap is not just an issue of perception.

"The difference across all industries reported by the equal opportunity agency for women in the workforce found a pay gap of over 17 per cent between men and women across all industries," he said.

"When you look at financial services, it is actually over 30 per cent. These are the facts.
