SPLENDOUR in the Grass music festival had a spectacular second year at its Yelgun home.

The North Byron Parklands was a buzz of excitement over the golden line-up throughout the weekend.

Festival-goers weren't phased by big acts London Grammar and Two Door Cinema Club pulling out due to illness.

Their replacements, The Presets and Foals, pulled mammoth crowds.

Roxy Coppen, from Pottsville, loved the number of great acts she squeezed into three days.

"My favourite band was Foster the People but I also really enjoyed seeing Foals, Grouplove and Kingswood," Roxy said.

She was also impressed by electronic duo Peking Duk, who had a handful of the festival's stars, including 360, join them on stage.

A stunning new ampitheatre and better-planned walkways saw less congestion between big acts this year.

Tweed-Byron LAC Superintendent Stuart Wilkins said while dozens of people were caught sneaking drugs and alcohol into the festival, it was a mostly trouble-free weekend for police.

"We were really happy with how it was run and we look forward to next year," Supt Wilkins said.

Sniffer dogs were on guard outside the main entrance.

While other festivals around the country are going broke, Splendour in the Grass has once again shown it's not going anywhere.

It's hard to pick a single highlight when you're comparing the likes of Lily Allen, Foster the People, and The Jezabels.

If the calibre of this year's line-up is anything to go by, save up your pennies for next July.
