Festival to celebrate gay and bisexual community

MORE than 1000 people are expected to attend the Sunshine Coast Pride Festival at the University of the Sunshine Coast on Sunday February 24.

USC is hosting the 2013 festival's major Picnic and Fair Day at the Sippy Downs campus from noon to 4pm.

It will be the final event of a three-day festival celebrating the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community at various Coast locations from 22-24 February.

USC Student Equity and Diversity Officer Marjorie Blowers, who is coordinating the fair, said the gold coin donation event would involve entertainment, stalls, food vans and children's activities. The USC Art Gallery also will be open.

Ms Blowers said the festival's organising committee expected many visitors from interstate as the local community joined friends and family in a fun celebration of diversity.
