Federal police serve Peter Slipper with court summons

FORMER Speaker and Sunshine Coast MP Peter Slipper has been served with a summons to appear in Court next month by the federal police.

The Australian Federal Police have just released a statement which said Mr Slipper had been served the summons in relation to three offences of "dishonestly causing a loss to the Commonwealth".

It is understood the summons may be in relation to long-held concerns about Mr Slipper's use of travel entitlements, including cab charges.

Mr Slipper was summonsed to appear in Canberra Magistrates Court on February 15.

The AFP was not making any further comment at this time.
