GALE White was one of many lucky fans who got the chance to meet Scott Cam at the Porters Mitre 10 Mackay grand re-launch and Family Fun Day.

Ms White says she is a "bit of a handy man" and learns tips and tricks from watching Mr Cam on television.

"It is great to see him because I see him a lot on the TV," Ms White said.

"I watch what he does and I sort of pick up a few odds and ends when it is going on."

Ms White said she had been receiving lots of texts from her family and friends letting her know Mr Cam would be in Mackay on Saturday.

However, the wet weather on Saturday morning almost made her reconsider going to meet him.

"We said this morning it was pouring rain and I thought, it would probably be washed out," she said.

Despite the weather Ms White still attended and brought her great grandson Ashton Roberts-Valena with her to meet him.

Managing Director Gavan Porter said it was exciting to have Mr Cam come to Mackay and help them celebrate the store's grand re-launch.
