Fans dress up as their favourite heroes at Supanova

POP-CULTURE geeks and fans were out in force at the Brisbane Convention Centre at the weekend for the Supanova Expo.

Fans dressed as their favourite characters and grabbed photos with idols like Nick Frost, Barbara Eden, Peter Mayhew, Jon Heder and Summer Glau.

Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis had a full panel of fans on Sunday afternoon and spoke about his time on the huge franchise over 10 years including how co-star Rupert Grint would often get into fits of giggles making it hard to film a scene.

He was excited to be enjoying the Australian sun during his break from filming the BBC's Ripper Street.

"Australian's are mad for sport which I love," he said.

"I love it here, you are all just pretty chilled in your flip flops, or I should say thongs."

The expo returns with more celebrity guest stars next year at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre in April.
