Eyes on the skies: Where to see C17 Globemaster flyover

A MASSIVE C17 Globemaster is about to make a roaring appearance over the Sunshine Coast.

The Royal Australian Air Force will make the flyover for the Hot 91.1 Heritage Bank Fire in the Sky event at Cotton Tree on Saturday.

The Globemaster will pass over the event during the afternoon, but organisers will announce the exact time of the flyover on Thursday.

Residents can also expect to see aerobatic aerial displays from planes and skydivers over the Maroochy River, before a massive fireworks display at 8pm.

This year, organisers are stepping up the fireworks display with three launch points on the Maroochy River.

The Globemaster has a wingspan of 52m, length of 53m and weighs about 128.1 tonnes.

It can carry an extra 77 tonnes, and was designed to deploy troops, supplies, combat vehicles, heavy equipment and helicopters.
