Boot camp brings families together to help those in need
SEEKING a fitter, healthier life is a noble path in itself - but one Ipswich personal trainer is giving his athletic followers the chance to help a family in need while doing so.
Owner of Wiser 1 Crossfit Alex Felagai holds boot camps in Limestone Park after coming up with the idea of encouraging families to work out together.
The idea proved a hit, with three generations of the same family regularly attending sessions.
Taking his community minded approach one step further, Mr Felagai collects gold coin donations for a family experiencing a tough times.
With the help of his class, the group donated $300 to the family of man having treatment for brain cancer.
He said it was one way of giving back to the community.
"It's been pretty big. We get anywhere from 20 to 40 people. It varies on a Saturday with the levels of fitness and the ages," he said.
"There is one lady with her one or two-year-old baby and a grandmother that exercises with their eight-year-old grandchild.
"They are not only working out but building good family bonds."
The class is suitable for all fitness levels and ages.
