Excitement builds as Yeppoon Golf Club's Pro Am date nears

YEPPOON Golf Club's 2013 Pro Am is shaping gearing up to be an experience of a lifetime with more than 70 visiting professionals heading to join set to hit the course with home-grown amateurs on the course on July 23.

Yeppoon Golf Club spokeswoman Barbara O'Brien said amateur golfers would get will have a great prime opportunity to play alongside professionals in this year's competition.

"It will be a huge day where amateur competitors will vie for more than $3000 in trophies," Ms O'Brien said.

"The Yeppoon course has fully recovered following the wet weather earlier in the year and players in the Pro Am can expect plenty of interesting challenges throughout the 18 holes.

"Yeppoon golf pro Jason Mulligan said the professionals were coming to the club as part of the Queensland Sunshine Tour 2013 taking place between May 11-July 31.

"The tour has become renowned for being a starting ground for up-and-coming players and has certainly produced some very successful players over the years," Mr Mulligan said.

"This year celebrates 50 years of the tour during which the group will visit 16 towns across central Queensland."

Mr Mulligan said the professionals will be competing for $10,000 in prize money at the Yeppoon Pro Am.

The club wants amateurs,  golfers, regardless of playing ability, to join the field either as individuals or in teams.

The cost is $40 for members and $50 for non members.

A shotgun start involves start times of 7.15am and 12.15pm.
