LOTS of young Toowoomba girls had stars in their eyes when they saw Australian singer Dami Im perform live at the Empire Theatre on November 11 but it really was a concert for people of all ages.

Ms Im is touring Australia with her Yesterday Once More concert where she sings Carpenters' classics as well as her own chart-topping hits.

Toowoomba woman Megan Bartlett-Horne went the show to see the superstar her mother Irene Bartlett taught at the Queensland Conservatorium.

While it's obvious the Eurovision runner-up is an artist of the new millennium, her performance possessed a devout understanding of pop and how truly great songs are crafted.

"Growing up in Korea and Australia, The Carpenters became part of the musical fabric of my upbringing," she said.

"I even sung Carpenters songs at my first paid gigs in an upmarket Chinese restaurant in Brisbane along with piano."

Along with her band, Dami Im put on a stellar show with her incredibly distinctive voice and musical artistry.
