FORMER The Chronicle photographer Errol Anderson died late last week, aged 81.

Errol is survived by his wife Margaret and their children Debbie, Peter, Linda and Richard.

A press photographer for 36 years, Errol joined The Chronicle in 1963 and retired in 1999.

He captured high drama, triumph and disasters, royals and had been part of the many special occasions in individual lives.

Former Chronicle journalist Evan Hodge describes Errol as "A wonderful man, kind, high standards, and best of all a wonderful sense of humour. He was so unassuming about the enormous contribution he made to the sense of place that the Darling Downs has in the world."

A service will be held later this week.
