Entrepreneurs exchange big ideas over breakfast

MOST of us have come up with what we think is a brilliant idea for a business, but so often it never makes it further than that.

David Masefield wanted to change that.

He founded Startup Toowoomba as a way to connect the city's entrepreneurial brains and give them an outlet to share ideas, sound out business plans and encourage ingenuity.

Not surprisingly, in a city the size of Toowoomba located between Brisbane and the agricultural hub to the west, it really took off.

"I was working at home on my own business and I wanted to get a working space going that would provide a home for startup businesses," Mr Masefield said.

"A place to give them the opportunity to come together and work in a venue that gives them the opportunity to mix with like-minded people."

He said many successful ideas had come to fruition through it and part of the attraction for many was having a sounding board.

This week members gathered for one of their regular breakfast meet-up sessions.

He said the breakfast meet-ups were a first port of call for people who wanted to run their plans by others to gauge interest and decide if they had potential.
