Empty stage needs a new leading man
KUCOM Theatre has a major problem leading into Mackay's Festival of Arts.
Its star of the upcoming production of Caught in the Net, Neal O'Leary, has been forced to quit because of work commitments. So now the amateur theatre company is looking for a new leading man in his 40s or 50s with some stage experience.
Director Bronwyn Grannall said that she would love for anyone interested to contact her and come down to their rehearsal tonight and read a few lines.
She said she initially chose Neal O'Leary because he was a natural and it looked like he belonged on stage.
Ms Grannall said the role involved a lot of dialog and comic action.
Caught in the Net is the sequel to Run for Your Wife written by Ray Cooney and first produced in 1983.
The play is about the life of a beloved London taxi driver John Smith who lives separate lives with two wives.
One of his wives, Mary lives in Wimbledon and another, Barbara lives in Streatham.
For 18 years he has managed to keep his two lives apart but when his two children meet on the internet he runs into a bit of a sticky situation.
The comedy received fantastic reviews and is set to be a great success this year when the Kucom Theatre returns.
The company will be performing in The Space from July 15-18.
Anyone interested in hitting the stage can contact Bronwyn Grannall on 0408 980 022.
