FATAL CRASH: Police identify man killed in crash

UPDATE: A Toowoomba man has been identified as the victim of a fatal traffic crash at Spring Creek this morning.

The man, 33, from Glenvale, died at the scene of the crash when his vehicle veered off the New England Highway and struck a tree.

The car rolled and came to rest in a nearby paddock.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

10AM: Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle rollover on the New England Highway this morning.

Emergency services remain at the scene of the crash at Spring Creek where a man has died in the rollover.

Warwick Patrol Group Acting Inspector Jamie Deacon said initial investigations indicate the man had been travelling north on the highway towards Toowoomba when he hit a tree, causing the car to roll.

It came to rest in a paddock off the highway.

A car travelling behind the vehicle witnessed the crash and called emergency services, Act-Insp Deacon said the man was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Police will probe whether speed was a contributing in the crash.

Act-Insp Deacon said the fatality was a tragic reminder for all drivers to be safe on the roads during the Christmas and holiday period.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

8.30AM: A man has died in a single-vehicle crash on the New England Highway north of Warwick this morning. 

Queensland Ambulance paramedics assessed one person at the scene of the crash between Allora and Clifton for critical injuries. 

Warwick Patrol Group Acting Inspector Jamie Deacon said the vehicle left the road and hit a tree with "significant" impact. 

A vehicle was travelling behind the car when the crash occurred and the driver called emergency services.  

The man is believed to have died at the scene. 

The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the cause of the crash.

8AM: Emergency services are rushing to reports of a serious traffic crash early this morning.

One person has suffered critical injuries in the crash on the New England Highway at Spring Creek, between Clifton and Allora.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services from Toowoomba are backing up crews from Allora and Clifton.

The New England Highway has been closed to all traffic and emergency services remain at the scene.

A Police Media spokeswoman said one person had suffered "life threatening injuries" in the crash.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible.

The crash was reported about 7.50am.
