Electric highways the way of the future
TRUCKIES' thoughts on a Queensland electric highway have been mixed.
The Sunshine Coast Daily reported the State Government has committed $2.5 million for another 13 charging points on the Queensland Electric Super Highway - the $3million, 17-station, 1900km fast-charging network that stretches from the New South Wales border to Far North Queensland via Brisbane and west to Toowoomba.
Terry Seymour was excited by the prospect - but said at 71 years of age he was "not holding his breath”.
Gavin Joseph Brown said to "scoff all you will” but believed this "would be everywhere” in 10 years.
"There's only 50 years of oil left in the world. Electric cars are being made cheaper and better all the time. They laughed when a car was invented and said it would never replace a horse.”
Michael Miethke was indifferent about it, but thought a "decent highway should maybe be a priority too”.
