Elderly man hospitalised after 'incident involving cattle'

UPDATE, 1.45pm: AN elderly man injured in an incident involving cattle at Mount Jukes is now being assessed in Mackay Base Hospital's emergency department.

A hospital spokeswoman confirmed the man is aged 77.

INITIAL, 1.11pm: AN elderly man has been injured in an "incident involving cattle" at Mount Jukes, according to the Queensland Ambulance Service.

The man, in his 70s, was being transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition at 12.45pm, following the "incident" about 35km north-east of Mackay, a spokeswoman said.

Paramedics were called to a private property at Mount Jukes at 10.59am.

The spokeswoman was unable to provide a more specific location.

Mackay Base Hospital has been contacted for more information.
