Eisteddfod adds some pop, rock and folk

A NUMBER of modern sections have been added to this year's 45th Gladstone Eisteddfod program.

To be held from September 3-25, the eisteddfod will add pop, rock, pop ballad, folk, jazz, hip hop to its vocal section for singers 19 years and over.

Storytelling, miming to music, paired mime, duologues and verse speaking are new to the speech and drama section.

The eisteddfod organisers are also calling for entrants in the new Mature and Motivated Dance section.

Dancers over 19 years are invited to perform in a group, trio, duo or solo, encouraging belly dancers, Irish dancers and hip hop to give it a go.

To enter, fill in an entry form on the back of the 2015 syllabus before May 1 and return to the Gladstone Eisteddfod office on Tank St.

The syllabus is now available for $5 at Judith Cooper Optometrist, Spa Express Sun Valley, Mitre 10 Boyne Tannum, Clinton Park Newsagency and Anthony Breed Music.

Check the Eisteddfod Facebook page for more information.
