EDITORIAL: Real Santa takes the highway
I'LL let you in on a secret, I know who the real Santa is.
And no, he isn't a fat bearded bloke in red trackies.
No, Australia's real bringer of Christmas cheer is the thousands of road transport workers who are out on the highways this silly season.
All working hard, into the night and away from their families to ensure everyone else has their Christmas ham, fresh produce and presents for their loved ones on time.
I've been pleasantly surprised to see the amount of Christmas advertising that has incorporated heavy vehicles in recent weeks.
Coke and Cadbury, both perhaps unintentionally bringing home the message on the importance of what you do.
While the children of Australia may still have to thank the snowy bearded operator from the Polar overnight express for the presents under the tree, some of the cheers should be saved for our drivers.
A huge thanks from the Big Rigs team to all of our readers this year.
Without your constant calls, and letters we simply wouldn't be able to share your voice from on the road.
We publish again in January, and as always please stay in touch.
