Driver escapes serious injury after fuel tanker roll in NSW

A DRIVER has escaped serious injury when his fuel tanker loaded with diesel rolled over at Mudgee in New South Wales this morning.

Police say a 200m exclusion zone has been established in the township of Mudgee, south east of Dubbo, as a precaution the tanker crash.

The crash occurred about 7.20am, at the intersection of Market and Douro streets.

Fire & Rescue NSW and a specialist HAZMAT crew were called to the scene and a second tanker was brought in to decant the fuel.

A perimeter has been established as a precaution and the affected streets closed; residents are urged to avoid the area.

The streets will be re-opened as soon as the salvage operation is complete.

Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
