Dreaming of an end to homophobia

IN RESPONSE to Paul Murray's column, maybe the difference between the show of solidarity for the victims of the Orlando massacre and the lack of such for the Las Vegas victims has more to do with the previous being driven by the LGBTI community.

We have always supported our own, particularly when nobody else would.

Think of the Australian response to the HIV/AIDS crisis.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude for the ever-increasing support of our heterosexual brothers and sisters.

One day, we will be treated as equal.

One day, the homophobia and violence will become just a sad addition to our history books.

One day, we humans, regardless of sexuality, gender, race or religion, will live together in peace and collectively we will express sorrow for our misunderstandings and fears which have caused so much damage to others.
