Opinion: Don’t let Bali duo's executions be forgotten
OPINION: Wednesday's announcement of the deaths of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan was gut-wrenching.
Personally, I think there is no crime in this world that could justify capital punishment.
I don't believe anyone should pay for a mistake for the rest of their lives - no matter how poor the decision.
But I do wonder how the members of the Australian Federal Police are feeling today.
Given they were aware and had sufficient evidence to detain all of the Bali Nine before they departed Australia.
A lack of compassion can result in nothing other than hypocrisy.
At the end of the day, those who think the deaths of these two men would have a tangible difference on the drug trades in either country is a fool.
You can't fix an addict by taking away the drug. That is an incredibly naive perspective.
And if you don't believe in redemption - what a sad world you must live in.
I do hope the Australian Government doesn't let this gross display of a lack of humanity be swept underneath the rug.
And nor the Australian people.
