Divided by politics and footy

PARTY lines aren't all that separate Wayne Wendt and Ian Rickuss.

The two will also be sitting on opposite sides of the fence at this weekend's Ipswich Rugby League grand final between the Fassifern Bombers and Ipswich Brothers.

Member for Lockyer Ian Rickuss took the season's biggest game to State Parliament on Thursday, where he challenged Mr Wendt to put $100 in for the player named best on ground on Sunday.

Mr Rickuss predicted a 28 to 22 victory for the Bombers in a tight match.

"Hopefully the country boys can give the silvertailed Ipswich team a touch up," he said.

Member for Ipswich West Wayne Wendt, a Brothers junior himself, said the Ipswich team's grand final experience would shine through.

"I'm confident Brothers will be successful at the end of the day," he said.

"Brothers 28 to 18."
