Distinctive lime green bikes pinched by thieves

THE distinctive lime bike synonymous with Potters Oceanside Motel tucked away on East Gordon St were stolen overnight.

Everyday the two bikes sit outside the motel foyer for guests to ride and are taken in when they close for the night.

When workers went to bring the bikes in on Monday night, they were shocked to find they weren't there.

Motel manager Richard Condon said it was a "bit of nuisance” but immediately checked CCTV vision to find four intruders pinching the bikes.

"The little buggers were pretty quiet about it,” he said.

Mr Condon said because they are so distinctive, with no other bikes like them in Mackay, he is pretty confident they will turn up.

He said it looked pretty bare out front this morning.

"You are so used to looking at the things in the one spot, so to look over and not see the bikes there, it was a bit off,” he said.

Police are investigating.
