Call to review dingo management

THE Easter dingo attack on a three-year-old girl on Fraser Island has prompted a call from Hervey Bay MP Ted Sorensen for scientific review of the science behind government dingo management policies on the island.

Mr Sorensen said the attack showed the policy is not working.

Environment Minister Kate Jones backed the policy and its implementation by staff of her Department of Environment and Resource Management.

She said there had not been a death from dingo attack on the island since the policy was introduced. She and DERM official Terry Harper urged people to adhere to safety messages on the DERM website.
