Digital TV retune affects Gladstone east today

THE digital television retune will affect viewers in the eastern parts of Gladstone on Wednesday.

Some free-to-air channels will change frequencies. The retune will affect viewers who receive their TV signal from the Maunalor Hill tower.

Suburbs affected include Barney Point, Gladstone Central, South Gladstone and Toolooa.

The retune is being carried out to free up the broadcasting spectrum so it can be used for new services such as mobile broadband.

Once the channels have moved, viewers will need to retune their digital TV, set-top box or digital TV recorder.

Retuning is done using the remote control. For most systems, viewers should press the 'menu' button on the remote, look for settings such as 'channels' or 'auto-tuning', then follow the prompts to retune.

There may be some disruption to all TV services for several hours on Wednesday because of work being conducted at the transmission site.

Viewers should wait until 3.30pm before retuning.

There may also be outages to all TV services over the next two days. Viewers will not need to retune again - the TV services will reappear once the work at the transmission site has been completed.

More information is available on the Digital Ready website, or call the information line on 1800 20 10 13, 8am to 10pm, seven days a week.

Other key dates:

  • Viewers in Agnes Water who receive their TV signal from the Agnes Water tower will need to retune on October 16 after 3.30pm.
  • Viewers in Boyne Island and Tannum Sands who receive their TV signal from the Boyne Island Reservoir tower will need to retune on October 29 after 3.30pm.
