Derek does what he can in Tassie
TASMANIA is again in the grips of extreme weather and bush fires, and local truckies have been flat out towing everything from water tankers to bulldozers and heavy equipment literally from one end of the state to the other, but in particular in the South and South West.
We caught up with Derek Triffett from Brighton when he returned home from the forests in the South West after delivering a 22T excavator and heavy earthmoving equipment up to the Lake Gell conflagration in the Florentine Valley.
He had put the truck through the truck wash on his way home, but it was still a rare occasion to catch his almost endlessly moving 2009 T-908 with a 625 Cat up front stationary.
Shout out to Rick Sutcliffe, who has been seen towing water tankers and equipment into the fires around Tahune in Bennett's Superliner, and all those out there supplying the firefighters and assisting to keep us all safe.
