Denpasar flights cancelled for third consecutive day

JETSTAR and Virgin flights to and from Bali have once again been cancelled as a volcanic ash cloud from a nearby island continues to play havoc with holidaymakers.

It is the third day in a row flights have been cancelled.

Mount Raung is one of the most active volcanoes on the Indonesian island of Java, about 140km west of Bali's Denpasar Airport.

The volcanic ash cloud has played havoc with flights and holidaymakers since it began spewing corrosive ash in July this year.

Virgin and Jetstar issued statements on Friday saying the safety of passengers and crew was their highest priority and they would keep customers updated as new information became available.

Passengers are advised to check online to see the status of their scheduled flights.
