Darling Downs twins ready for House Rules showdown

DARLING DOWNS twins Luke and Cody Cook are about to make their national debut as their renovation skills are put to the test on screen.

The Dalby community have been waiting for the Channel 7 launch of Crowded House Rules, after the film crews closed off part of a street near the Criterion Hotel to keep the show under wraps.

Now a qualified electrician, 23-year-old Luke bought the house two years ago.

Luke's 1940s shack has been renovated with the help of his brother Cody, who moved to Dalby from Toowoomba about a year ago after finishing his diesel fitter apprenticeship.

"It was a very rundown house but I saw potential in it."

Dalby businesses and residents all got involved with the buzz of the show while it was in town.

Cody said Dalby was a great country town.

"The best part about our home town is you go down the street and get a g'day and a yarn; it's never a five-second trip to go get bread or milk."

While they made an initial start on renovating the ensuite before applying to go on the show, they only got as far as the framework.

The kitchen, and laundry are also in dire need of repairs. The house is also without insulation.

"It's bloody cold in winter and smoking hot in summer. I spend most of the time in the sun as it's cooler than inside the house; it's ridiculous," he said.

The show airs Wednesday, April 27 at 7.30pm.
