Daily flights from Ballina to Newcastle to start in December
FLYPELICAN will commence flights between Ballina-Byron and Newcastle starting in December.
Subject to regulatory approval the new service will provides the two regional communities with a daily Ballina to Newcastle return air service.
FlyPelican, an independent regional airline, is excited to be adding another route to its network.
The Chief Executive Officer of FlyPelican, Paul Graham said: "The Newcastle to Ballina route is very well suited to our Jetstream 32 aircraft. We will commence operating a daily return service on December 7, which will fly 19 passengers in about one hour and 20 minutes from Newcastle to Ballina."
The Ballina Byron Gateway Airport has been working with FlyPelican for a number of months in getting the business case right for the airline.
Neil Weatherson, Council's Airport Manager is equally delighted with the news "it is a very positive step for the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport and we are looking forward to working with FlyPelican to grow this service".
Flights are expected to cost from $99 one way.
