CYCLISTS from across Toowoomba have gathered to share their ideas for better infrastructure in the region.

Toowoomba Regional Council held the forum at the Empire Church Theatre on Saturday to engage with the cycling community.

Transport engineer Jason Deller said it was to find out what cyclists' interests and key priorities were for the region as part of an open forum initiated by council's Regional Active and Public Transport Advisory committee.

"That group talks about issues in transport, including public transport and cycling and walking and that group identified that this would be a really useful exercise to engage with the wider community," he said.

"Then we will put all that together and work out some priorities and then take that back to the council and that will form part of our program considerations.

"(Things like) what we are doing well, what we are not doing well as a council, what they would like to see and are we spending our efforts in the right area.

"For me it's about being really open minded about what those issues are, and obviously we would like more infrastructure and better infrastructure and the council has a responsibility of balancing all the projects that it takes into consideration," he said.

The forum is also open online until August 31 at yoursay.toowoombarc.qld.gov.au.
