CQU gets positive report

CENTRAL Queensland University second year student Lachlan Dearden was glad to see the positive placement report with the 2018 Graduate Outcome Survey.

The survey reported 79.1 per cent of CQU undergraduates are employed within four months of graduation compared to the national average of 72.9 per cent.

The median salary is around $66,000 and one of the highest in Australia compared to the national average of $61,000.

It also showed 85 per cent of employers are satisfied with the skills that graduates bring to their roles, including team work and communication.

Lachlan is studying a Bachelor of Medical Imaging and is working hard for a career in radiography.

"I was studying at another university and wanted a degree that would get me the career I wanted so I can help people,” Lachlan said.

"I changed over because I saw the high rate of successful graduates with CQU for my chosen career.”

The second year student expects to graduate in 2021.

"The survey gives me a lot of confidence that I will find employment where I want to live when I graduate,” he said.

The CQU Biloela Study Centre has helped to make this result occur by assisting regional students.

Student Success Advisor Anita McLure said students can come to the centre to assist with their university course.

"We offer both VET and higher education courses by distance here,” Anita said.
