Couple changed lanes for wedding at a truck yard
THEY say it's good luck if it rains on your wedding day, and for newlyweds Karl and Stephanie Black that couldn't be more true.
The couple had planned to tie the knot on January 14 at Greenmount Homestead, near Walkerston; however, when the fateful day arrived, the spot was flooded out.
"I think fate had these plans all along,” Stephanie said.
"We are both huge truck lovers and Karl is a truck driver and had previously worked at WMT Transport Yard for many years,” she said.
"It all seemed to fit for us to be married there instead.
"The location was great, it turned out perfectly, surrounded by our close friends and family, followed by an amazing reception at West Leagues Club.”
According to Stephanie, the best part of the day was arriving at the ceremony in a Kenworth T908 truck and seeing the look on her partner's face, as it was "his dream come true.”
"The wedding was an indescribable feeling, there were tears, laughter and happiness all rolled into one,” she said. "I wish I could relive it every day.
"My dress was a fitted mushroom coloured lace dress, which was amazing.
"And my bridesmaids' dresses were country, casual, off the shoulder dresses which were perfectly suited to our theme, the girls looked beautiful.”
The couple said they are loving married life and have planned an overseas honeymoon to New Zealand to celebrate their recent union.
In the meantime though, they are happily back at work.
"We both work in transport, so it's not really working when you get to deal with trucks all day,” Stephanie said.
"We have three beautiful children who will also venture with us to New Zealand for the honeymoon.”
"We're loving married life. Karl takes me for who I am and we just clicked from the first day we met. I guess you could say it was love at first sight.”
The couple gave special thanks to WMT Transport for allowing their special day to happen and agreeing at such short notice.
"I'd also like to thank Emerald Carrying Company for the trucks on the day, Absolute Weddings and Events, Sue Watson from Bridal Magic fitted out the reception better than I could ever have imagined.
"Also Warren and Jenny Black; my father Colin Grieves because, without his help, I wouldn't have been able to make the day possible; my amazing mother Sharon Myles - she is a true gift and I would be lost without her - and most of all my awesome bridal party, our special day wouldn't have been the same without you.”
