Concert to be held after CSG court hearings at Grafton
AS ANTI-CSG protestors wait to hear their fate in Grafton Local Court on Monday, their fellow activists will be putting the finishing touches to a Clarence Clean CSG FREE concert to show their support.
While the 78-day camp at the Metgasco test drilling site at Glenugie was torn down in the early hours of Thursday morning, it hasn't weakened the resolve of protesters.
Concert organiser Ava Dub said the event would give those who didn't get the chance to make their voices heard at Glenugie the opportunity to make a stance.
"It's a way to show support for those who are going through court," he said.
"And not everyone likes to go to a protest and get dragged away by riot police.
"This is another way of showing support.
"It's a good way of allowing the rest of Grafton to see what it's all about."
Ava, who has been at the Glenugie site and seen some "unpleasant" things is a musician and is planning to play in the "Glenugie Blockade Band" at the concert.
Bluegrass band The Mid-North will play along with country rock band The Remains.
As well as music there will be speakers, local food and family friendly activities.
Bundjalung elders will do ceremony and Gumbaynggirr people will tell the creation story of Glenugie Peak.
Grafton Local Court will hear the cases of protesters who were arrested during blockade action.
At bail hearings last month, the courthouse was packed with fellow protesters showing their support.
A big crowd waited outside the police station to greet each one as they were released.
Similar scenes are likely to unfold on Monday and The Daily Examiner will be there all day to provide you updates online on this website (dailyexaminer.com.au) and in our print edition.
