IT WAS friendliness and fun at the Chinchilla Conversations in English (CinE) Harmony Day celebrations.

The event was organised on a week's notice, but that didn't stop locals from enjoying the day.

CinE's Zita Stark said Harmony Day was what the group was all about.

"Harmony Day is the day when Australia is celebrating all its people, focusing on everyone from the various countries living together in harmony,” she said.

"Since CinE stands for exactly this, we honour this day as our big celebration time every year. In 2018, we decided to 'rehearse' our similar event of three years ago, 2015: We invited the public, dressed up in our traditional clothes, and prepared meals from our countries of birth.”

On Harmony Day in 2015 the group went public, and three years on, Miss Stark said the group was blessed to have a crowd of about 40 people attend.

"We all had a great time, with our guests and members eating and chatting,” she said.

"In both years, we invited the public to express our gratitude towards our dear Australian friends, who keep teaching us about how to live in Australia even with their way of breathing, as I used to say.

"Our multicultural afternoon tea was meant to be a heartfelt thank you to our valued locals.”
