Comic superstar Ben Elton to chat with audience after film
COMIC superstar Ben Elton is coming to the Sunshine Coast next Tuesday, October 10, at 6.30pm for a special screening of his latest film Three Summers.
He started out as an English comedian but Elton has since been embraced the world over as an author, playwright, actor and director.
The October 10 screening of his Three Summers will be at Event Cinemas Maroochydore, followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.
Three Summers stars an ensemble comedy cast of Aussie favourites including Michael Caton, Magda Szubanski, Deb Mailman, John Waters, Jacqueline McKenzie and Peter Rowsthorn.
At a summer music festival, the feisty lead singer of an Irish folk band (Rebecca Breeds) meets a folk music-hating theremin player (Robert Sheehan) and sparks literally fly.
Into the mix comes a fiercely Aussie morris dancer (Caton), an Indigenous dance troupe, a group of wine-loving empty-nesters, a power-tripping security guard, a wannabe girl rock band and some musical asylum seekers.
And it all takes place under the meddling eye of community radio superstar Queenie (Szubanski), who welcomes the campers back three summers in a row for a "folking good time”.
The Three Summers special screening at Sunshine Plaza on Tuesday is ahead of its general release in cinemas on November 2.
