Comedy film festival to bring laughs to Cap Coast

THE Yeppoon Town Hall will be filled with roars of laughter this Friday night as it plays host to the the 19th Over the Fence Comedy Film Festival.

Livingstone Shire Council is pleased to host the program of 13 short comedy films from around the world.

This years theme for the festival is 'Choose', with the shorts showing anything can change.

Festival Director Greg Coffey said the festival aimed to encourage and stimulate comedy film production worldwide and promote comedy films that celebrate, entertain and inspire.

"We are a festival dedicated to championing independent and new filmmakers, creating a vibrant, stimulating, inspiring environment for filmmakers and audiences, and that bring laughter, thought and joy," Mr Coffey said.

Arts Councillor Nigel Hutton said the comedy film festival was just the start of another action-packed year for Livingstone Shire's art and cultural scene.

"Council's fantastic staff have done an amazing job to bring a variety of world-class acts to our shire and we've had a tremendous positive response from the public," Cr Hutton said.

"The more our residents show the appetite our shire has for the arts the more pulling power it gives us to attract even more performances, so I'd encourage all residents to come along," Cr Hutton said.

Audience members will have a chance to vote for their favourite film.

Tickets are adult $15 and concession $10.

Bookings can be made by phone on 49135000 and tickets can be purchased at council Customer Service Centres during business hours.
