COLES: Country singer, MKR stars to celebrate opening
WARWICK shoppers can barely contain their excitement as the brand new supermarket they have waited for is days away from opening.
Coles is set to open its doors at Rose City Shoppingworld on Saturday and will receive a massive welcome with a huge carnival full of events held both inside and outside the store.
Rose City Shoppingworld marketing manager Louise de Lissa said an instant photo booth, fairy floss giveaways, face painting and entertainment from Rob Black are just some of the attractions shoppers can enjoy.
Inside the store, there will be a cooking demonstration from My Kitchen Rules stars Kim and Suong from 11am, noon and 1pm.
Dezzie D and the Stingrayz will also perform live.
Mrs de Lissa said it was an opportunity to see and taste the new goods on offer.
"To have two supermarket experiences in a centre of this size is an important thing, to have the option to shop in both stores,” she said.
"We have had Bi-Lo here and it was a well performing store, so there are Coles shoppers out there who are going to be welcoming the new look.
"It's brand new, second-to-none and it's got all the bells and whistles.”
Warwick resident Emily Cottrell is a coeliac and unable to eat gluten, so she is excited for the wide range of gluten-free options available at Coles.
"They've got a good selection of cereals, breads, sauces,” Emily said.
"I think they're fresher and cheaper.”
Shopper Virginia Smith said she was particularly looking forward to the deli section and variety in the new store.
"It's good competition between Coles and Woolworths, they keep each other honest,” Virginia said.
Festivities will kick off at 8am and run until 2pm.
The new entrance to Rose City Shoppingworld near Coles will also be officially opened on Saturday, with a ceremony at 7.30am.
Country singer to perform
THE sweet sound of country music will fill the halls of Rose City Shoppingworld on Saturday as Rob Black visits town.
To celebrate the grand opening of Coles, Mr Black will entertain shoppers with roving entertainment and a live performance from noon in the mall.
Mrs de Lissa said the multi-skilled performer had been on stage with Troy Cassar-Daley and would be accompanied by his wife, Kelly, on Saturday.
A headline act will be the icing on the cake for a full program of events being held at the centre in honour of Coles.
"The Coles theme is bringing the local suppliers in and getting back to that grassroots strategy so it fitted in line with that,” Mrs de Lissa said.
