Coast TV retunes needed tomorrow

SOME free-to-air Cooloola Coast television channels will change frequencies tomorrow.

Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach and Cooloola Cove residents may have to retune some channels on their digital TVs, set-top boxes or digital TV recorders.

A Federal Government spokesman yesterday said the changes would free up the broadcasting spectrum to make room for new services such as mobile broadband.

"Once the channels have moved, viewers will need to retune to get them back," he said.

"Retuning is done using the remote. For most systems, viewers should press the 'menu' button on the remote, look for settings such as 'channels' or 'auto-tuning', then follow the prompts to retune. A video and three-step guide to retuning is available on the Stay Tuned for the Retune website.

"Viewers might want to write down favourite channels, program recordings or parental lock settings."
