AFTER Jetstar announced that they will now offer direct flights from the Sunshine Coast to Adelaide residents have urged that flights north also be considered.

"When is there going to be flights north to Darwin and Cairns etc. That would make such a difference," Joy Avenell said.

"Need flights north to Townsville and Cairns. It's 2016 and we still have to drive to Brisbane to fly north," Daniel Thompson said.

"How about some north Queensland to Sunshine Coast flights instead? Pretty annoying flying to Brisbane and then having to drive two hours to get to where you need to be with small children," Aleisha Gee said.

Linda Johnson believed that flights north could have other benefits as well.

"Would reduce a lot of traffic on the Bruce Highway for travellers and miners," she said.
